Description
Stabat Mater Dolerosa (Latin: There stood the mother, filled with pain), is a Catholic hymn from the 13th century. The lyrics portray Maria’s suffering during the crucifixion of her son Jesus Christ. Numerous composers have ? Stabat Mater, including Kjetil Bjerkestrand. The work was premiered in Uranienborg Church at Oslo Kammermusikkfestival in 2017.
The text material is partly taken from Stabat Mater, partly chants taken from Requiem with exchanges between Latin and English translation.
Strømsø Church will be having the same lineup as the first performance.
